ree

The Chinese Embassy in Kiribati has pledged AUD 100,000 and donated a range of goods to support this year's Independence Day festivities across the islands.

The announcement was made during a handover ceremony held on July 7th at the embassy, attended by Counsellor Zhao Jian and Secretary of the Office of Te Beretitenti, Tebwaatoki Taawetia.

The aid package includes 2,300 T-shirts, 1,800 back scratchers, 1,800 bottles of Fengyoujing (a traditional Chinese mosquito balm), 180 radios, 135 Bluetooth computer speakers, 90 solar power banks, and 50 hats—items intended to enhance celebratory efforts and everyday livelihoods in island communities.

This contribution underscores China’s ongoing commitment to deepening ties with Kiribati and supporting its national celebrations.

The Embassy stated its pleasure in assisting the festivities across all islands this year.
