More than 120 residents from the Nanikaai community took part in a public health screening and consultation for diabetes and high blood pressure yesterday.
A one-day event was led by Teera Katarake, Health Director of the Kiribati Mission, with support from 10,000 Toes Ambassadors and the Bairiki Seventh-day Adventist Church.
According to Mission President Pastor Taabua Rokeatau, the turnout—featuring people from various religious and social backgrounds—shows that “the health message and healing transcend religious boundaries.”
The program combined health checks with uplifting music and food package distributions by children from the Bairiki SDA Church, highlighting the church’s “total member involvement” approach to community care.
Organizers say this initiative is part of an ongoing effort to promote preventive health across Kiribati.
