Kiribati welcomed a group of international diplomats this week, as representatives from the European Union, France, Switzerland, and Malaysia visited the country to strengthen ties and explore areas of cooperation.

Australian High Commissioner André van der Walt joined the Government of Kiribati in receiving the visiting dignitaries and described the engagement as a positive step toward achieving “meaningful outcomes for the people of Kiribati.”

The visit reflects a growing commitment among diplomatic partners to work collaboratively on shared challenges, including climate change, development, and regional stability.

High Commissioner van der Walt emphasized the value of continued collaboration within the diplomatic corps, noting that stronger partnerships are essential for long-term progress in the Pacific.

The joint visit underscores Kiribati’s expanding role in international diplomacy and signals deeper engagement with global allies moving forward.
